Horseshoe Falls is one of three main waterfalls located in the Mount Field National Park. In this quick blog post, I’ll summarise everything you need to know about visiting the falls, including how to get here, what to expect and I’ll include inspiring photos that I hope will convince you to visit!
Where is Horseshoe Falls Tasmania?
Horseshoe Falls is located within the Mount Field National Park in Tasmania's Central Highlands. This National Park is approximately 70 kilometres northwest of Hobart.

How to Get to Mount Field National Park
To get here, you will need to first drive to Mount Field National Park visitor centre, approximately 1.5-hours from Hobart. The road to the park follows the Brooker and Lyell Highways and is sealed the entire way.
Unfortunately, you won't find any public transport options or organised tours that include a stop at Horseshoe Falls. However, if you'd like to see the renowned rainforests of Mount Field and its star; Russell Falls, then I can recommend booking a full-day national park tour from Hobart.

Walking to Horseshoe Falls
The track leading to Horseshoe Falls first passes Russell Falls, the centrepiece attraction for this park. Then, walkers can continue on for approximately another 10 minutes on a short ascent on well-maintained wooden stairs.
You will find this waterfall and the end of a short track leading on a fork on the "Three Falls Circuit", just after Russell Falls. If you are visiting Mount Field then I highly recommend seeing these waterfalls by taking this circuit loop which also passes Lady Barron Falls and the world-renowned "Tall Trees Walk".
Visiting The Waterfall
The track to this waterfall is sealed and boarded the entire way. At the end, walkers find a wide viewing platform where you can admire and photograph this Tassie wonder.
While not the tallest waterfall at only 5 metres, it's the serenity and aesthetics of its tranquil surrounds that make it a must-visit. Several streams cascade down a wide, clearing, meeting in a swirl of water that almost looks like it was designed by a master artist.
