La Digue– immediately, among a few of the scenes that spring to mind commonly include pristine turquoise waters, dramatic boulders, and untouched, white-sand beaches. This tropical island paradise island is one of the most beautiful in the Seychelles. And, of course, one of the best ways to enjoy this paradise is to discover some of the famous La Digue beaches.
In this travel guide, I’ve rounded up the 8 best beaches on La Digue, the Seychelles, with the aims to inspire you to witness this paradise for yourself. At the bottom of this post, I’ve also included a short travel guide with tips to help you make the most of your visit to the island.

8 Best La Digue Beaches
Without hesitation, let’s dive straight into the list. The best beaches on La Digue will depend on personal preference and therefore, I’ve kept this list unordered to help you make your mind up yourself. Note that some of these beaches require a hike on one of La Digue’s nature trails. However, I’ve also listed some beaches that are easily accessible from the road as well.

1. Anse Source D’Argent
Everyone has seen photographs and video of the iconic granite rock formations, white-sand, and turquoise lagoon waters from Seychelles’ poster-boy. That’s because Anse Source D’Argent is considered to be the most photographed beach in the Seychelles, and is commonly included in lists of the world’s best beaches.
The granite rock formations at Anse Source D’Argent make this one of the most unique beaches on La Digue. You’ll also discover a shallow, protected lagoon just off its shores, making it one of the safest beaches to swim on the island.
Anse Source D’Argent is located within the L’Union Estate, so you’ll need to pay an entry fee of 115 SCR to access the beach.

2. Anse Marron
Anse Marron has quickly become one of the most instagram-worthy beaches on La Digue. This remote beach is tucked away on the far, southern end of the island and requires a bit of an adventure to reach.
However, once you arrive, you’ll soon discover why this particular beach has become so famous. Some might argue that it’s even more postcard-worthy than Anse Source D’Argent! Large, granite boulders scatter this tiny, isolated beach, leading into some of the clearest water you’ll find on the island.
Getting here yourself is definitely not recommended and I’ve been told many tourists have gotten lost trying to find the way. Instead, you can book a guided walking tour to Anse Marron on Viator, which has dozens of 5-star reviews and is actually one of the best-rated tours on the island.

3. Grand Anse
If I had to pick a personal favorite La Digue beach, it’d have to be Grand Anse. Located on the south east corner of the island, this stretch of white-sand drops quickly into deep, turquoise waters. This is an excellent beach for swimming as the water is much deeper than the lagoon at Anse Source D’Argent.
However, the surf and currents can get a little strong here, so it’s best for confident swimmers.
Tall coconut palms run along the stretch of the white-sand shores, and on the northern end, you’ll find Pointe Grand Anse, a far-reaching row of granite boulders.

4. Anse Cocos
Anse Cocos is one of the best La Digue beaches if you want a mini-adventure! That’s because you’ll need to complete a short hike to reach it. The walk begins from Grand Anse, taking the short jungle trail heading north from the beach.
Anse Cocos is located in a protected bay on the far eastern side of the island. Due to its location, Anse Cocos is one of the most secluded beaches. But, that doesn’t stop people from making the effort to reach its pristine shores.
The bay at Anse Cocos is a little shallower than Grand Anse, but still less protected than Anse Source D’Argent. The water at this particular beach is a beautiful turquoise blue, which is amazing for swimming. You’ll find a small drink and fruit hut on the southern end, and a famous rock pool area surrounded by large granite boulders in the north.

5. Petite Anse
Nestled between Grand Anse and Anse Cocos is another beautiful little La Digue beach that is great for a more secluded pick.
Similarly to many other beaches on La Digue, there’s a small beach hut or “bar” serving drinks and fresh fruit. The water radiates a fluorescent, bright blue, with dense vegetation making a perfect backdrop from the white-sand shores.
To get here, head north on the jungle trail from Grand Anse.
Tip: Don’t miss Anse Lazio on neighboring Praslin Island.
6. Anse Songe
An off-the-beaten-path pick for a secluded, rocky beach on La Digue’s southern coast is Anse Songe. Again, you’ll need to take a short walk through the jungle to reach it. However, the walk is manageable by almost anyone with a normal level of fitness.
At the northern end of Anse Songe, you’ll discover a minuscule, secluded beach tucked beneath a towering granite boulder. If you continue on, you’ll also find a longer beach with rocky boulders stretching out from the shore. Anse Songe is much shallower but offers better opportunities for snorkeling than some of the other beaches on La Digue.
7. Anse Pierrot (Robinson Crusoe Beach)
Here’s something you might not have known about La Digue Island. On its southern end lies a small, soft-sand beach with a majestic jungle backdrop. Uniquely, Anse Pierrot has a claim to fame for being the set featured in the 1954 classic, Robinson Crusoe. As soon as you get here, you’ll discover why. It’s the perfect secluded beach that really makes you feel like you’re stranded on a lone, tropical island!
This is one of the most difficult La Digue beaches to reach as its only accessible via the water. Luckily, you can book a tour with Crystal Kayaks which not only takes you to Anse Pierrot, but also includes a guided tour of the coast from a clear-bottom kayak.

8. Anse Banane (Banana Cove)
As you’ll find, most of the best beaches on La Digue island are found on the south or on the west coast. However, the much quieter north and east coasts still have a lot to offer. As you might know already, riding a bicycle around the island is one of the best things to do here. If you have the time, add a visit to Anse Banane (Banana Cove) to your island adventures.
If you’re looking to escape the crowds, this is a great option. You’ll most likely have this beautiful little beach to yourself. There’s also a small restaurant and bar at Banana Cove where you can enjoy a cold, sunset Seybrew, or two.

However, in general, you have 2 options. Firstly, you could take the Cat Cocos (fast ferry) directly to La Digue Island from Mahe, which costs roughly €60 and takes 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Otherwise, you’ll want to take the Air Seychelles scenic flight to Praslin, then take the Cat Rose to La Digue Island.
Travel Tips for Enjoying The Best Beaches on La Digue
Below are some tips you’ll want to know before you go beach-hopping on La Digue.
- Rent a bicycle – this is the best way to explore the island. Bike rentals cost 100 SCR per day. In saying that, if you stay at the Chateau St Cloud as I did, they’ll arrange one for you.
- Beach bars – at most of the popular beaches on La Digue, you’ll find palm leaf-roofed bamboo huts serving fresh fruit and drinks. There’s nothing better than a fresh tropical fruit platter on a hot day in paradise!
- Travel insurance – if you’re planning on exploring some of the hiking trails on La Digue, it’s a good idea to get travel insurance. The best options at the moment are SafetyWing and World Nomads.
- Costs – visiting the beautiful La Digue beaches is one of the best things to do on the island because it’s free! However, there is one fee payable at L’Union Estate to access Anse Source D’Argent
Where to STay on La Digue
La Digue is quite a small island and you can get anywhere on a bicycle within 20-30 minutes. You’ll find a lot of hotels on the west side of the island near the jetty but only a few along the narrow stretch of coastal road on the mostly inhabited eastern side.
On La Digue, there are a wide variety of hotel and resort offerings ranging from relatively “budget friendly” self-catering lodges to incredible luxury resorts.
Below is a quick summary of the best picks.
- Amazing Chateau: Hotel Chateau St Cloud (Mid-Range) – This is where I stayed on La Digue and I can personally recommend it as one of the best accommodation options on the island. This three-star hotel is perfect as a mid-range option as the location is excellent– just a little out from the main area on a quiet street that is close enough to both the incredible southwest beaches and the port.
- Waterfront Hotel: Le Nautique (High-end) – Rated as one of the best waterfront accommodations on La Digue, Le Nautique is a luxurious offering combining traditional Creole architecture with modern comforts including king-sized beds and rain-showers. Here, you’ll also discover an amazing outdoor restaurant and beautiful garden surrounds.
- Self Catering: Dream Holiday (Budget) -located on the northern end of the island very close to the ferry terminal. Offers queen rooms with air-conditioning, TV, private bathrooms, and even a balcony. This is a great option if you’re visiting La Digue on a budget while comfort and location are still a priority for you.
