A Quick Rundown of Where to Stay in Siargao

Planning a trip and looking for a quick answer for where to stay in Siargao? I'd say that 95% of visitors will pick General Luna as their Siargao accommodation of choice. This is the main tourist hub on the island and where you'll great hotels, resorts, guest houses, restaurants, bars, clubs, cafes and surf schools.

Siargao Island is also big enough to explore in a single (long) day by motorbike. Therefore, most people tend to base themselves in General Luna and explore the island from here on day trips.

If you scroll down, you'll find a fairly long accommodation guide where I go into way more detail than this, but if you're in a rush, you can't go wrong with one of these picks:

Best Luxury Resort With a Pool: Las Palmas Villas & Casitas

Where to Stay close to Siargao's Best Beaches: Kalipay Resort Siargao

Hotel on a Private Surf Beach: Surfing Carabao

Best Budget Accommodation: Ilakai Hostel

Areas to Stay in Siargao Outside of General Luna

Most of the recommendations on this Siargao accommodation guide are in General Luna. However, if you want to find a hotel or resort on Siargao Island that's away from it all, then you can also check out:

1. Stay in Pacifico/San Isidro

This northern hub is famous for huge waves and a much more laid-back vibe. Staying near Pacifico, you'll swap bustling cafes for local eateries and pumping nightlife for quiet beach sunsets. There aren't a tonne of facilities here but there are a few accommodation options.

2. Stay in Santa Monica

Santa Monica is on the northern tip of Siargao Island where you'll find a couple of hotels. Similarly to Pacifico, if you choose Santa Monica when planning where to stay in Siargao, you'll have a much quieter time but you'll be closer to highlights like Pacific Beach, Taktak Waterfall, and Alegria Beach.

If you want to live like a local, you can also check out Del Carmen or Dapa. These are the two main port towns on Siargao offering a few budget hotels and guest houses to stay at. However, I wouldn't recommend staying at either of these towns as there are much better options on Siargao.

Summary of the Best Hotels in Siargao

Siargao hotel rates: Siargao Island is quite cheap to visit when compared to many other parts of Asia, and even compared to other islands like Cebu or Palawan. You can find budget lodgings like guest houses and shared backpacker hostels for under $9 USD per night and even the luxury Siargao resorts and high-end hotels typically cost less than $125 USD per night.

Below I've compiled useful tables with quick links to book the best accommodation in Siargao as recommended in this guide.

Keep in mind, prices will vary by season and availability. But, they will be a useful indicator for what to expect. If you continue reading, I go into more detail on each accommodation option and why I've chosen each as a recommendation for where to stay in Siargao.

1. Cloud 9

Cloud 9 Siargao is perhaps the number 1 tourist spot on the island. If you didn’t know already; Siargao is the surfing capital of the Philippine! And, this particular spot is ranked as one of the top 10 surf spots in the world.

The Cloud 9 Pier is one of the most popular spots to hang out at, surf or watch the pros do their thing. You’ll find this one at the northern end of General Luna.

2. General Luna

General Luna is the primary tourist spot and travel hub of Siargao. This is the place where 99% of people stay when visiting the island.

General Luna is approximately 45-minutes from the airport and has a main street called “Tourism Street”. Here, you’ll find loads of resorts, cafes, chill bars, restaurants, local eateries, surf schools and nightclubs. If your in the search of a Siargao tourist spot to base yourself at, this is it!

General Luna Siargao Tourist Spots

3. Maasin River – the Most Iconic Siargao Tourist Spot

The Maasin River has become a famous Siargao tourist spot for its bent palm tree rope swing. If you hit search on Siargao on any social media platform you’ll likely see reels and photos from this particular spot.

The Maasin River is approximately 30 minutes from General Luna if you’re exploring the island by bike. Otherwise, you can book a very popular Land Tour, which visits this river swing, among many more great travel spots on Siargao.

4. Daku Island

Daku Island is one of the three main islands just off the coast of General Luna. Most people visit this island on a combined island hopping trip which also visits (spoiler) Guyum and Naked Island.

Daku is the largest island of the three, featuring a reaching sand spit and a dense forest of coconut palm trees.

Daku Island Siargao

5. Guyam Island

Guyam Island is one of my favorite tourist spots on Siargao. You can walk around this epic little sandbar island in under 5 minutes. It’s complete with white sand beaches, dense coconut trees and a tiny little basketball hoop in the centre.

If you’re looking for a spot to visit in Siargao for secluded tropical island vibes, then this is it.

6. Naked Island

Naked Island is the third tourist island off the coast of General Luna in Siargao that most people visit on an island hopping trip.

Unlike the others, this island has absolutely no vegetation and is nothing more than a small sandbar surrounded by tropical blue waters. In my opinion, it’s one of the the most picturesque islands because of this. Pure island minimalism!

Naked Island Siargao

7. Sugba Lagoon

Sugba Lagoon is one of the Siargao tourist spots that I definitely recommend not missing out on! These blue lagoons are seriously something from another world. You can get here on a day trip from General Luna, cruising in a Bangka (Filipino outrigger boat) through the Del Carmen Mangrove Reserve.

Once you arrive, you’ll discover magical emerald green and blue lagoons to swim at. There’s also a famous diving board, some cliff jumps as well as SUPs and kayaks to rent at the floating hut.

Sugba Lagoon Siargao

8. Kawhagan Island

Kawhagan Island rivals Guyam Island as the most iconic tropical island off Siargao. Whilst a little further away from the main tourist spot of General Luna, it’s still definitely worth a visit.

The interior of Kawhagan Island is covered with coconut palm trees. There’s an awesome sand spit where you can swim as well. If you’re looking to get away and just relax, don’t miss this one.

You can get to Kawhagan Island by booking a trip to Sugba Lagoon, since these trips also stop by here for an hour or so on the way back.

Kawghagan Island from Sugba Lagoon

9. Sohoton Cove

Did you know that one of the most epic Siargao tourist spots isn’t actually on the island at all, but on the neighboring Bucas Grande. Sohoton Cove is an adventure playground, featuring caves, incredible blue lagoons and lush, rolling mounded hills and islets.

Thankfully, getting to Sohoton Cove is quite easy and you’ll have the option of either booking a day-trip from General Luna or riding to Dapa and getting the ferry to Socorro.

Sohoton Cove National Park Siargao

10. Magpupungko Rock Pools

If you’re strolling around the popular tourist places in General Luna, you’ll be bound to see some signs advertising this incredible spot. The Magpupungko Rock Pools feature a series of natural tidal pools that are incredibly blue!

If you visit at low tide, you’ll find deep pools to swim in. There are also large boulders around the pools that you can climb and jump from!

Tip: Magpupungko is included in the very popular Siargao Land Tour

11. Palm Tree Road (Coconut Road)

Besides the Maasin River palm tree swing, the Palm Tree Road (Coconut Road) is perhaps the most popular Siargao tourist spot to snap photos at. This particular road is a section of Siargao’s Circumferential Road that wraps around the island.

The reason why it’s so popular is because of how picturesque this straight stretch of palm-lined concrete road is. While there are many roads on Siargao that are similar, none are as iconic.

12. Pacifico Beach – An Emerging Siargao Tourist Spot

If you’re willing to venture out of General Luna, you’ll be treated with more long stretches of white-sand beach and pumping surf!

Pacifico Beach is renowned for having some of the largest surf breaks on the island. While it’s not a pumping hub (yet), Pacifico Beach is definitely an up and coming tourist spot on Siargao, especially for big-wave surfers.

There’s also an awesome abandoned lighthouse on the far north side of the shore which is the perfect spot to perch and watch the sets roll in.

Siargao Lighthouse on Pacifico Beach, Tourist Spots in The Philippines

13. Taktak Falls

Taktak Falls is the only waterfall on this list of Siargao tourist spots. That’s because it’s the only waterfall on the island!

You’ll find this awesome little spot on the far northern end of Siargao. There’s a deep pool beneath this jungle waterfall, as well as a big tree branch serving as a jump spot (make sure to check depths first).

14. Tayangban Cave Pool

Tayangban Cave is an awesome little micro-adventure located near Pilar (just 10 minutes from Magpupungko Rock Pools). You’ll find this off-the-beaten-path Siargao tourist spot just off the Circumferential Road.

For 100 pesos, you can get a guided tour, wading through waist-deep water into the large caverns. There are also two very deep cenotes here where you can swim and jump into.

15. Alegria Beach

For the explorers and adventurers looking for Siargao tourist spots without the crowds, head to Alegria Beach in the north. This beach isn’t famous for surf, but is a great spot to chill and unwind at.

This stretch of white-sand beach is lined with shallow, turquoise waters with tropical reef. As with most beaches on the island, you’ll also find hundreds, if not thousands of palm trees to climb and collect some fresh coconuts from.

Tip: Unwind at Alegria Beach after a long day of exploring other northern attractions like Pacifico Beach, Magpupungko Rock Pools and Taktak Falls.

Alegria Beach, Siargao Island Travel Guide

16. the Palm Tree Viewpoint

One of the most iconic viewpoints on Siargao is the Palm Tree Lookout at the top of the hill out from General Luna. This particular tourist spot isn’t really marked as one, but everyone knows about it.

If you’re heading out on a motorbike or scooter to explore for the day, leave early from General Luna and try to make it up to this awesome palm tree viewpoint for sunrise– you won’t be disappointed.

17. Shaka Cafe

I’d say it’s unfair to do a deep dive into the best Siargao tourist spots without at least mentioning Shaka Cafe. This awesome beach-side cafe is famous on the island for its incredible barista coffees and healthy smoothie bowls.

Shaka Cafe is located on the beach right next to the Cloud 9 Pier. While it’s not the cheapest eat in town, $5 will get you a healthy breakfast right on the beach, where you can watch professional surfers shred at one of the best surf spots in the world.

Shaka Cafe, Siargao Tourist Spots

18. Secret Beach

The final item on this list of Siargao tourist spots is the (not-so) Secret Beach. I’m assuming this beach used to be fairly unknown but is now quite popular, especially with beginner surfers. That’s because the surf is much more tame but consistent, with small rolling sets coming through all day.

Secret Beach is located approximately 20 minutes from General Luna by motorbike by following the rolling hills along the coastline to the west. If you continue on Union Road past Union Beach, you’ll get to a straight section of road. Here, you’ll often find motorbikes parked beside a narrow jungle trail. This is the way to Secret Beach!

Before you dive into this Siargao Island travel guide featuring the 21 best things to do on your next visit, here are some things you should know about the island and this guide:

  • Separate posts - I've written comprehensive guides to many Siargao attractions listed in this blog which include more information and photos. You'll find the link to these in each item on the list.
  • General Luna - This is the main tourist hub on Siargao Island and where most people stay.
  • Insurance for travel on Siargao- If you enjoy adventure and outdoor activities when traveling, you'll probably want adventure insurance that covers things like surfing, motorbikes, and hiking. Check out World Nomads as they're one of the only companies covering these activities.
  • Language - Locals in Siargao speak their own dialogue of the Visayan language, which is different to what you'll hear in Cebu or Palawan. However, many locals can speak up to four languages, including Tagalog (Filipino) and English as well.
  • At the bottom of this post - you'll find a more comprehensive Siargao travel guide with many more resources beyond just things to do on the island.

22 Best Things to do on Siargao Island

Let's get into the best part of this Siargao Island travel guide; the list of the 22 absolute best things to do on Siargao

1. Check Out Cloud 9 Siargao

By far, one of the most popular things to do on Siargao Island is to head down to the famous Cloud 9 pier a the end of the main town of General Luna.

This epic pier is a hotspot for surfers, with the epic Cloud 9 surf break being just beneath it. In fact, Siargao's Cloud 9 is rated as one of the 10 best surf spots in the world, and the best place to go if you're looking to watch world-class surfers.

If you're a pro, head down to the pier to launch into the surf. Otherwise, do what I did a few times on my trips and walk out to it for one of the best spots to watch the surfers do their thing.

During peak surfing season, you'll get to witness some great waves at Cloud 9 Siargao!

2. Visit the Magpupungko Rock Pools

The Magpupungko Rock Pools are natural tidal pools on Magpupungko Beach, north of General Luna.

These pools have to be seen to be believed. They are an insane shade of bright, turquoise blue. The pools are also deep enough for jumping into from the large boulders. The water is very clear, especially on low tide!

3. Go Island Hopping

By far, one of the best things to do on Siargao Island if you're not surfing is to check out the islands just off General Luna. Island hopping is one of the most popular activities on Siargao Island, and it makes for an epic day of exploring amazing sandy shores and snorkeling in coral reefs.

You'll get to visit:

4. Visit Sugba Lagoon - The Best Thing to do in Siargao for Non-Surfers

Okay, this next highlight is one of the absolute best things to do on Siargao Island! In all honesty, the Sugba Lagoon day trip from General Luna was probably my favorite activity on the island.

The Lagoon is located just a short trip from General Luna through the Del Carmen Mangrove Reserve. You'll visit an incredible blue lagoon that is absolutely stunning from the sky. The main point has a floating hut with tables, an awesome diving board and stand-up paddle boards and kayaks for rent.

5. Stop By Kawhagan Island

Kawhagan Island is another epic little sandbar island covered with coconut palm trees. There's an awesome sand spit that is perfect for swimming, relaxing or watching the sunset.

You can book a private tour to Kawhagan Island from General Luna, or combine it with a trip to Sugba Lagoon.

Tip: If you're jumping on the Sugba Lagoon trip above, then you'll also get to visit Kawhagan Island.

6. Snap a Photo at the Coconut Palm Road

If you're in the planning stages of your travels to Siargao Island, then I'm sure you would have already seen photos from this epic road. The Siargao Coconut Road is an epic stretch of white-concrete road surrounded by tropical palm trees.

If you have a drone, you'll want to send it up here to capture some awesome photos and videos.

7. Swing Off the Bent Palm Tree

The bent palm tree swing has been a Siargao icon for the past few years. This spot is located on the Maasin River, less than half an hour from General Luna.

This epic river is lined with coconut palm trees and features an epic rope swing into the deep water. There are also a few locals around who will offer you a boat trip up the river and to use their bamboo raft for a small fee.

8. Stay at Kermit Resort

The Kermit Surf Resort on Siargao is one of the most popular and chill places to stay in General Luna. While I didn't stay here, I'll have to be honest and say that I stopped by a few times and was a bit envious.

These guys run tours and promote eco-friendly and sustainable initiatives on the island. Kermit also runs the most popular surf schools in General Luna.

9. Go Surfing (Or Learn to Surf)

If this Siargao travel guide ranked things to do on the island in order, then this would have to be number one. Surfing is by far the most popular thing to do on the island and there are loads of great breaks from pro to beginner.

I'm not a big surfer and therefore I can't comment much on the spots. However, taking some advice from some who are, some of the best surf spots on Siargao Island include:

  • Jacking Horse
  • Guiuan
  • Quicksilver
  • Bumee
  • Daku Reef
  • Pilar
  • Cloud 9 Siargao
  • Tuason’s Point
  • Pacifico

While many of these spots are for more advanced surfers, I did have a crack at Secret Beach and the "learner area" near Cloud 9. I can recommend these two for those who want to learn how to surf on Siargao Island.

10. Explore Sohoton Cove

Visiting Sohoton Cove on the nearby Bucas Grande island is one of the most epic ways to spend a day on Siargao.

There are loads of caves, blue lagoons, and diving platforms to check out. The lagoons for me were a definite highlight and reminded me of the epic scenes on El Nido or what you might expect to find on Palau. Check out the video below that I made out of a few drone clips from Sohoton Cove.

11. Rent a Motorbike and Explore Siargao Island

If you've read my blog before, then you'll know that one of my absolute favorite things to do when traveling is just to rent a bike and explore. You can pick up a scooter in General Luna for around 250-350 pesos per day. On top of that, 150 pesos will be more than enough to cover your fuel costs!

The roads around Siargao Island are very well-maintained and smooth. You'll really enjoy cruising down the coconut palm tree roads, passing scenic rice fields and quaint villages along the way.

12. Visit Taktak Falls

An off-the-beaten-path adventure lies in the northern tip of Siargao Island– Taktak Falls, the only waterfall on the island!

While you won't find crystal clear, turquoise water at the base like you might at Kawasan Falls on Cebu, there is a hanging tree branch to send backflips off! Local kids love hanging out here, and they'll show you the ropes!

13. Check OU the Tayangban Cave Pool

Next up on this Siargao travel guide are the two cenotes at the Tayangban Cave Pool. This pool is located just 10 minutes from Magpupungko Rock Pools, just off the main road (Siargao Circumferential Road).

You have to pay a guide to visit these caves (100 pesos), who is usually one of the family members who owns the land. This activity is a mini-canyoneering trip as you wade through waist-deep waters in through a large cave complete with large stalagmites and stalactites.

The highlight for me was the two cenotes (deep sinkhole pools) where you can swim and cliff jump into at the end.

14. Watch the Surf on Pacifico Beach

If you're up for a road trip, one of the top things to do on Siargao Island is to ride up to Pacifico Beach on the island's north. This beach is famous for its huge swell and if you're lucky, you might spot some shredders out in the waves.

This one is a decent reef break, and definitely not one for beginner surfers.

15. Climb the Abandoned Lighthouse on Siargao Island

It seems to be that Siargao Island has it all! To top off the epic surf spots, blue lagoons, waterfalls, and cenotes, there's also an epic abandoned lighthouse you can climb!

You'll find this lighthouse at the north end of Pacifico Beach, and if you climb to the top, you'll have by far, the best view of the Pacifico surf on the island!

16. Surf at Secret Beach (Guyan)

Secret Beach was one of my favorite beaches on Siargao island. This beach gets its name from the fact that you have to trek in a few hundred metres through the jungle to reach it!

On the quiet island days when we didn't know what to do on Siargao, we ended up here! There are some nice, beginner waves rolling in consecutively which makes it a great spot if you're learning to surf.

17. Taste the Best Pizza on Siargao Island

What if I told you that Siargao Island has one of the best, authentic wood-fired Italian Pizzas in the world? Alright, you might think I'm exaggerating but let me tell you, they're incredible, it's up there with the best in Napoli!

You'll find these pizzas at the Kermit restaurant at General Luna. For $5, you can get a delicious, wood-fired Margherita Pizza that blew my mind. I don't know how they do it!

18. Snap a Photo at the "Secret" Palm Tree Road

Alright, everyone's seen a photo or heard about the famous Coconut Road on Siargao Island. But, what if I told you that there was another (arguably better) palm tree lined straight road?

You'll find this stretch of road in the north of Siargao near Pacifico Beach. If you type in "Coconut Plantation" on Google Maps in Siargao, you'll find the spot.

Secret Palm Tree Road on Siargao

19. Grab a Fresh Coconut

I think that climbing a coconut tree is an activity listed in every single Siargao travel guide. But, sometimes recommendations are there for a reason!

This island is coconut palm tree paradise, no matter where you turn you'll see them. And, the best part is that most of the trees have wedges cut out of the step making climbing them a breeze!

So, if you're hanging around and wondering what to do on Siargao Island, climb a coconut palm, harvest the fruit, and enjoy!

20. Visit Alegria Beach

As you probably know by now, Siargao Island has some incredible beaches. One of the most scenic is called Alegria Beach, at the very northern tip of Siargao near the Santa Monica Pier.

This beach is surrounded by shallow, fringing reefs, which means it's not great for surfing. However, it is one of the most scenic beaches, with turquoise blue water lapping up the palm-lined, white-sand shores.

Tip: Include a visit up to Alegria Beach when exploring northern Siargao Island highlights like Taktak Falls, Pacifico Beach and Magpupungko Rock Pools.

Alegria Beach, the philippines

21. Watch the Sunset at the Palm Tree Viewpoint

The last recommendation on this list of things to do on Siargao Island is to check out the awesome palm tree viewpoint just out from General Luna.

If you're exploring the island, then you'll undoubtedly pass this awesome pull-over spot a few times as its right off the side of the Circumferential Road at the top of the hill outside General Luna.

This viewpoint looks over a sea of palm trees with some rolling mountains in the distance. Visit for sunrise or sunset and you won't be disappointed!

Coconut Palm Tree Forest

22. Try Delicious Smoothie Bowls at Shaka Cafe

Looking for a healthy option after all that wood-fired pizza? My favorite place is Shaka Cafe near the beach at General Luna and you'll find some of the best smoothie bowls in all of the Philippines!

Siargao is a small island and Shaka Cafe is a fairly popular spot to hang out, chill, and meet some like minded people.

Where to Stay on Siargao Island

When planning accommodation on Siargao, you'll want to know that the main tourist hub is called General Luna. Here, there is solid tourism infrastructure like hotels, resorts, guest houses, restaurants, clubs, bars and tour offices. Below are my favorite picks for where to stay.

Tip: I've written a comprehensive Siargao accommodation guide as well which goes into a lot more detail on places to stay, don't miss it!

  • Luxury Villas: Las Palmas Villas and Casitas Siargao - every popular luxury villas located within 100 meters from the beach. Includes swimming pool, bar, and tropical gardens.
  • Luxury Resort: Kalipay Resort - the best tropical suites in Siargao, located in an excellent central location that is quiet at night but still very close to everything you need.
  • Mid-range beach house: Surfing Carabao Beach Houses - beachfront tropical huts on Malinao beach with air conditioning and an awesome surf vibe.
  • Hostel With a Vibe: Ilakai Hostel - the best hostel in General Luna with very impressive reviews.

How to Get to Siargao Island

There are two ways you can reach Siargao Island, either by plan or by ferry.

By Plane:

Sayak Airport (IAO) is the airport serving Siargao Island in the province of Surigao Del Norte, the Philippines. This airport has connections from Manilla or Cebu (via Cebu Pacific or Philippine Airlines). So, if you're flying from overseas, you'll likely need to book a connecting flight. However, there are apparently plans to build an international airport on Siargao in the near future.

Tip: Compare airfares on Skyscanner and CheapOAir to get the best rates (use the whole month option if you're flexible).

By ferry
The second option for getting to Siargao Island is to book a Roll-on, Roll-off (RoRo) ferry. These trips run from neighboring Surigao (via Surigao City) and can work out cheaper than flying to Siargao directly from Cebu or Manilla.

Best Time to Visit Siargao Island

Being a tropical island, you can expect Siargao to have some varying weather and dry/wet seasons. The best time to visit Siargao Island will depend on what you are doing. As a general outlook, most of the rain falls between January to March and late October to December. In saying that, January is the wettest and August is the driest.

Surfing Season: July to November
July to November is the most popular time to visit Siargao for surfing as the swell and wind conditions create the biggest waves. The annual Siargao International Surfing Cup runs each year in September.

Summer: March to May
As you probably know now from this lengthy Siargao travel guide, there's so much more to do on the island than just surfing! If you're planning a trip for beach hopping, exploring and adventuring, I'd recommend visiting between the months of March to May (Summer).

Island sunset palm tree

How to Get Around on Siargao Island

By far, the best way to get around on Siargao Island is to rent scooters. You'll find blogs recommending scooter rentals from places in General Luna for as high as 500 pesos per day. However, I've rented bikes multiple times for between 250-350 pesos per day. If you're planning to stay a while, you'll get the cheaper price of around 250 pesos if you rent them for long term (1 week or more).

You'll find fuel around the island to top up from road-side pit-stops. This fuel comes in glass bottles. 150 pesos worth of fuel will last most a day of exploring around the island. If you're only running down to the surf spots near General Luna, 150 pesos of fuel will last you a lot longer.

Tip: Siargao Island is an adventure playground! If you're planning to rent motorbikes, I highly recommend travel insurance by WorldNomads. I swear by them as they are one of the only companies offering adventure insurance with cover for things like motorbikes.

Alternatives

If you're not too keen on renting a motorbike, you can also pay for transport via:

  • Tricycle - a popular mode of private transport in the Philippines that accommodates a few more passengers (2-4) than a motorcycle. You can pay a driver to take you around to different spots and check out the awesome things to do on Siargao.
  • Habal Habal - This refers to "scooter taxi", this is a good way to get around cheaply as a single passenger without renting your own.
  • Van - You'll find a few resorts, hotels and private transport companies offering van transport. This is the priciest option for getting around but can be worth it if it's raining or if you're in a large group.
Tricycle in the Philippines

Siargao Island Travel Tips

That's nearly a wrap for this Siargao travel guide, but first, here are a few tips you'll find useful for your trip.

  • ATMs - You won't find that many ATMs around the island so I recommend getting cash out when exploring. You'll find ATMs only at large hubs like General Luna, Dapa or Del Carmen
  • Local currency - Philippine Peso (PHP), current exchange rate is roughly 50 PHP to $1 USD
  • Dapa and Del Carmen - these are the two main towns on Siargao Island where you can access facilities like pharmacies, supermarkets etc.
  • Good Food - Check out Kermit Restaurant, Shaka Cafe and Mama's Grill. For local eats, there's a Filipino eatery on the main strip at General Luna (Google Maps Pin: Tuna On D' Go GL and Rubies Store) where we ate most our meals (fed for under 80 pesos). Also, make sure to try pan de coco at the local bakeries.

Siargao Island Travel Guide - Faqs

Q: How long should I spend on Siargao Island?
As long as you can! We spent over a month here and still didn't want to leave on our first trip! This is especially true if you like surfing.

Q: How much does it cost to visit Siargao?
Again, this will definitely depend on your travel style. If you like partying and sticking to the expensive resort restaurants, then you can easily spend over $150 USD a day including accommodation.

However, if you're a backpacker on a budget like us, then you can also easily spend less than $30 a day by staying at a cheap guest house, eating locally and choosing free things to do like surfing or exploring the island by motorbike.

Q: What's the Siargao nightlife like?
If you've come to party, your best bet is to stay somewhere near General Luna. There are always nightly parties here at the bars and clubs on the main strip.

A travel guide to an off-the-beaten-path, hidden gem known as the Siargao Lighthouse, an abandoned lighthouse on Pacifico Beach, Siargao.

Siargao is full of epic and iconic spots and attractions. However, being quite a small island, you wouldn’t expect to find many hidden gems such as this epic abandoned lighthouse on Pacifico Beach.

In this guide, I’ll outline everything you need to know about this epic little lighthouse including how to get here, what to expect and what it’s like climbing it!

Featured in: Siargao Island Travel Guide

Siargao Lighthouse

About the Siargao Lighthouse

The Siargao Lighthouse is the only lighthouse on the island to my knowledge. We discovered it when exploring the island by bike and stopping by at Pacifico Beach.

Apparently, this lighthouse goes by a few names, including Siargao Lighthouse, Pacifico Lighthouse, and Tigasao Lighthouse.

This awesome, white lighthouse has a spiraling staircase leading to the top, which you can climb up. The views from the top are breathtaking and offers an awesome view of the Pacific Ocean.

The structure is quite run-down and I'd imagine it has been abandoned for quite some time.

Siargao White Lighthouse Pacifico Beach

Where is the Abandoned Lighthouse on Siargao?

You'll find the Siargao lighthouse on the far, northern end of Pacifico Beach. This beach is quite a stretch from General Luna, taking about 50 minutes to get here by motorbike.

  • Google Maps Pin: Pacifico Light House

If you drive to the north end of the beach, you'll see the Pacifico Lighthouse just around the bend poking above green shrubs near the headland.

How to Get to the Lighthouse

For independent explorers, rent a bike in General Luna for between 250-350 pesos per day. This is how I explored much of Siargao during my visits.

To get to the Siargao Lighthouse, you'll want to take the island's Circumferential Road all the way up the mainland, around the bend past Magpupungko Rock Pools and then make a right once you arrive at San Isidro (there are signs pointing the way to Pacifico). This ride is very scenic, passing rice fields, coconut plantation and quaint villages along the way.

Tip: Siargao Island is an adventure playground! If you're planning to rent motorbikes, I highly recommend travel insurance by WorldNomads. I swear by them as they are one of the only companies offering adventure insurance with cover for things like motorbikes.

The steel rail is very rusted in some sections so I wouldn't trust it to keep me from falling out!

The view is quite breathtaking. We visited on a day with pumping surf and we watched it roll in for a good half an hour before heading down!

I also got some time to fly my drone here to capture some unique perspectives of the Siargao Lighthouse on Pacifico Beach.

Complete travel guide to the Maasin River and its famous bent palm tree rope swing on Siargao Island, the Philippines.

The Maasin River Siargao was once just a quaint little river town on the island’s Circumferential Road. However, ever since an opportunistic local erected an awesome rope swing on the picturesque, bent palm tree hanging over the river, the spot got international acclaim thanks to social media.

The truth is, this bent palm tree swing on the Maasin River is now a little bit touristy. However, that doesn’t mean it’s not worth checking out on your visit to Siargao. In this quick guide, I’ll detail everything you need to know about this unique attraction, including how to get here, costs, what to expect, and tips for avoiding the crowds.

Here's a breakdown.

Where is the Maasin River?

The Maasin River is located on the Siargao Circumferential Road. It's approximately 18 kilometres from General Luna, which should take you about 25 minutes if riding independently. You'll know when you're at the right spot when you reach the iconic red bridge crossing the Maasin River.

Stop here, and look to your left. You'll see the famous bent palm tree and the Siargao swing just a little ways up the river. You can park your bike here in Maasin for free.

There's also an iconic bamboo raft and sometimes you'll also meet a friendly man with a small outrigger rowing boat. Locals will offer you to take photos with the raft for 20 PHP and the man offers trips further upstream to a secret blue lagoon for 500 PHP.

The Siargao swing on the Maasin River is quite fun. It's not a huge drop but it's the picturesque surroundings that makes this so popular. The river is lined with dense, tropical palm trees that make for quite a scene.

Tip: We drove past the Maasin River a few times at midday while exploring the island of Siargao. Let me tell you– this spot gets busy! I recommend getting here early to beat the crowds. I'd say you'd have it all to yourself if you visited around 6-8am.

Everything you need to know before visiting the Tayangban Cave Pool on Siargao Island, Philippines.

Tayangban Cave is an awesome blue-water grotto that you can swim through on Siargao Island. If you’re visiting Siargao and looking for something a little off the beaten path, then definitely check out this attraction.

In this quick guide, I’ll outline everything you need to know about visiting the Tayangban Cave Pool, with information on how to get here, what to expect, and costs.

Tayangban Cave Pool Siargao

About the Tayangban Cave Pool

Entrance fee: 100 pesos (mandatory guide)

The Tayangban Cave Pool is an inland attraction on Siargao, close to the Magpupungko Rock Pools. This site is on private property, and you'll need to pay one of the family members to guide you through this mini-canyoneering adventure.

The cave is actually categorized as a cenote or natural sinkhole that forms when limestone collapses to expose deep pools of fresh groundwater. Our guide told me that the deepest pools at Tayangban Cave are actually really deep, over 100 meters, in fact!

These caves were actually first named Kantoloi Twin Cenotes after the first Filipino cave divers to explore them.

How to Get to Tayangban cave Pool

There are two options when planning how to get to Tayangban. You can either book a guided tour from General Luna, which also includes other attractions, or you could ride here yourself.

Option 1: Guided tour

Update 2023: There are currently no tours running to Tayangban Cave Pools that you can book online. You can either try your luck asking around in General Luna or go for option 2 and ride here yourself.

Alternatively, you can book the Siargao Land Tour, which includes other highlights including the Magpupungko Rock Pools, the Siargao Swing, The Coconut Road, and more.

Option 2: Independently

For the independent explorers, rent a bike in General Luna for between 250-350 pesos per day. This is how I explored much of Siargao during my visits.

Getting to Tayangban Cave Pools on Siargao is easy and the roads on this stretch from General Luna are well-maintained. The easiest way to get here is to simply plug in the coordinates in the map below which is accurate.

Tip: Siargao Island is an adventure playground! If you're planning to rent motorbikes, I highly recommend travel insurance by WorldNomads. I swear by them as they are one of the only companies offering adventure insurance with cover for things like motorbikes.

Where is the Cave?

From General Luna, take the Dapa - General Luna Road up to the intersection beside the Eagle's Club Statue. Turn right here onto Siargao Circumferential Road. Next, follow the road past the famous Palm Tree Viewpoint, down the Coconut Road and past the Maasin Bent Palm Tree Swing. From here, continue again on the Siargao Circumferential Road until you see the sign for "Tayangban Cave Pool". This is literally right on the side of the road.

  • Google Maps Pin: "Tayangban Cave Pool"

You'll pull over here, pay your fee and your guide will take you down into the caves.

Tip: Magpupungko Rock Pools are only 10 minutes away!

What to Expect at The Tayangban Cave Pool

When I arrived at the Tayangban Cave Pool, it must have been a quiet day because the tour consisted of myself and just one other solo Filipino traveler.

Our guide took us both through a small crack in the cave, which led into a larger cavern with waist-deep water. You'll need to get wet up to at least your waist, so make sure you're prepared for this!

Siargao Cave

We stopped at a few sections, where our guide pointed out huge stalagmites and stalactites. There were also bats who live in this cave, and some swiftlets flying through the caverns. It's pretty dark inside the cave as the only light source is a torch carried by our guide.

Caving in Siargao

After wading through the Tayangban Cave with the aid of some ropes and bamboo structures for roughly 15 minutes, we reached the exit point. This large section features two cave opening and is quite picturesque as opens up to the cenote, or cave pool ahead.

At the end, we spent about 15 minutes swimming and exploring the cenotes. Some sections are quite deep and it looks like you can jump from some of the sides of the cliffs surrounding it.

How to Get To the Palm Tree Lookout on Siargao

There are two options for getting to the palm tree lookout on Siargao. Below I've summarized both.

Option 1: Siargao Land Tour

If you're short on time, or if you want to explore a bunch of different highlights on Siargao in a single day, then a good bet is to book the Siargao Land Tour. This is the most popular tour on the island and covers a few must-do activities including:

Where is the Palm Tree Lookout on Siargao

What to Expect at the Palm Tree Lookout Siargao

You'll know immediately when you arrive at the coconut palm tree viewpoint. You'll see a wide, cleared area to the right beside the hill where you can pull over and admire the view. There are large concrete blocks here acting as a barrier, blocking the steep drop down to the palm tree field below.

Of course, you'll expect to see a lot of coconut palm trees here. I believe it's a coconut farm, with rows of trees planted in a beautiful pattern. I visited this spot quite a few times when exploring the island and always made a quick stop.

If you visit early, you might get lucky and see a rolling sea of mist in the palm tree field. The early morning sun also reflects beautifully off the tropical palms. In the distance, you'll see large hills covered with more tropical plants.

Tips for Taking a Great Photo at the Palm Tree Lookout

Below are some quick tips for snapping a great photo at the Siargao Palm Tree Lookout.

  • Visit early. This way, you'll get the best light and you might be lucky enough to have the spot all to yourself. Also, the viewpoint is just off the main road, which gets a bit of traffic later on in the day.
  • Bring a drone if you have one. This is a great spot for droning as you can probably expect.
  • Try a tight shot. If you've got a longer zoom lens, try for a tight crop of the canopy and mountains in the distance.

An inspiring travel guide to visiting Taktak Falls, the one and only Siargao waterfall! Includes all the details you’ll need to get here and information on what to expect once you arrive.

If you’ve visited my blog before, then you’ll know that visiting waterfalls is a big part of what I like to do when traveling. When I found out that there was only one waterfall in Siargao, then I knew that I had to check it out.

Taktak Falls is an awesome little waterfall that’s a little off the beaten path but certainly worth checking out if you’re interested in an adventure.

Featured in: Siargao Island Travel Guide

About Taktak Falls

Taktak Falls Entrance Fee: 25 PHP + 10 PHP for motorbike parking

Taktak Falls is a roughly 14-meter waterfall located in ghd north of Siargao Island. While it's a little bit of a mission to reach this spot, I'd say that it's worth it as you'll get to check out many other Siargao highlights on the way.

These include:

I'll go into detail below on how to get here, and a bit more on what to expect as well.

Tree jump at Taktak Falls Siargao

Where is TakTak Falls

Taktak Falls is located on the northern end of Siargao, much closer to the emerging tourist hub of Pacifico than General Luna.

As you see above, there are plenty of things to do and see on the way. So, a road-trip is well-worth it.

Below I've pinned the exact location of Taktak Waterfall to help you find it on Siargao Island.

  • Google Maps Pin: "Taktak Falls"
Taktak Falls Location on Siargao

How to Get to This Siargao Waterfall

Being a little off-the-beaten path in the far north of Siargao, there's only one way to get to Taktak Falls. That is, to rent a motorbike (scooter) and ride here yourself. Expect about 1.5 hours of riding from General Luna to reach the waterfall.

You can pick up a motorbike in General Luna for between 250-350 pesos per day, which is great value.

If you're staying in General Luna, then I'd suggest just entering the pin above into Google Maps and letting it direct you there. There are a few confusing signs once you get close but the pin is accurate.

In saying that, Taktak Falls is only one highlight you can experience on the long ride up to the north. For this reason, I'd suggest planning out a day-trip itinerary to make the most of the ride.

Below is what we did (in order).

  • Sunrise at the Palm Tree Lookout
  • Early morning at Magpupungko Rock Pools
  • Tak Tak Falls
  • The abandoned lighthouse
  • Afternoon at Pacifico and Alegria Beach
  • Sunset on the famous Siargao Palm Tree Road

Tip: Siargao Island is an adventure playground! If you're planning to rent motorbikes, I highly recommend travel insurance by WorldNomads. I swear by them as they are one of the only companies offering adventure insurance with cover for things like motorbikes.

Alternative: Siargao Land Tour (Highlights)

I understand that riding a motorbike for 1.5 hours on Siargao isn't everyone's cup of tea. Unfortunately, there aren't many guided tour options that you can currently book which include a visit to Taktak Waterfall.

However, if you're up for a bang-for-buck trip that includes most of the best things to do on Siargao, then check out the Land Tour. This is one of the most booked tours on the island and covers a bunch of highlights you'll definitely want to check out.

Otherwise, make sure to check out the other articles I've written to my top 3 favorite experiences (in order).

What to Expect at Taktak Falls

Once you finally arrive at Taktak Falls, you'll notice that there is a built-up, manmade area just above the waterfall. Here, there's a hut where you'll need to pay the Taktak Falls entrance fee of 25 pesos, plus 10 more to park your bike.

There's not a long walk down to Taktak Waterfall and instead, you'll find it just beyond the hut. There's a concrete trail on the left side of the river leading to the swimming area beneath the falls.

While I personally think Taktak Falls is pretty awesome, many people are underwhelmed. I think that's because they might be expecting that Gatorade-blue color that you'll find at other Philippine waterfalls like Kawasan Falls on Cebu.

Instead, the waterfall at Taktak Falls is a murkier, brownish, river-water color. It might not be the most scenic waterfall in the world, but it's plenty of fun.

Tree Jump At TakTak Waterfall

The main highlight for me was the arching tree jump into the pool beneath the falls.

We always depth-check before jumping and were surprised to find out that it's actually quite shallow, with large boulders in some sections. However, we found that there were some deep sections that were easily deep enough to jump into without touching the bottom. We were fortunate enough to have some local kids (10 years old at maximum), who showed us where to jump and impressed us with their backflips.

How Long to Spend at the Siargao Waterfall?

We spent just under an hour at Taktak Falls which I'd say is probably longer than most people do. We were having too much fun jumping off the tree and snapping photos of the falls!

I'd say you can easily spend about 30 minutes here and be content with the trip. With that said, this probably doesn't justify the long ride out here for most, which is why I recommend checking out all the other highlights too!

Even on the flight into Siargao, likely the first thing that will strike you is just how absolutely covered this island is with different types of palm trees.

About the Famous Palm Tree Road on Siargao

Okay, the Siargao Palm Tree Road, or Burgos coconut road, isn't exactly a highlight or stand-out attraction. However, it is easily one of the most popular spots for people to spot and take some photos.

If you're a photographer like myself, then you'll really appreciate this spot. The long, smooth stretch of concrete road darts straight down a field of coconut palm trees with almost perfect symmetry. In the background, you'll see some more jungle-covered mountains. It's a really photogenic spot and definitely one you should fly your drone at if you have one.

Tips for Snapping an epic Photo

So, you've found the famous Palm Tree Road Siargao? Time to snap some photos. Here are some tips to help you get a great shot

  • Aim to get here early as the best lighting will be just after sunrise. This way, you can stop at the Palm Tree Lookout just before the road to catch sunrise there as well.
  • Bring a drone– most of those great shots you've seen online are taken from the air. This gives the best perspectives of the symmetry and straight lines of coconut palms.
  • Get creative– most of the photos I've uploaded here were taken quite a while back. Since then, there's almost a million different photos of the exact same angle. Challenge yourself and get creative as a photographer to take advantage of this awesome spot! I'll definitely be trying to snap some unique angles next time I'm visiting the Siargao Palm Tree Road.
  • Be careful– I'm not here to lecture you and this kind of goes without saying too. This is a main road on Siargao and you'll want to make sure you're not disturbing any traffic, be it motorbikes, cars or buffalo carts!

Discover Sohoton Cove National Park on Bucas Grande Island near Siargao, the Philippines. Includes everything you need to know before an unforgettable Sohoton cave, lagoon, and cliff jumping trip in the Philippines.

Sohoton Cove National park is one of the most incredible regions in the Philippines. It reminds me a lot of El Nido on Palawan, with crystal clear, blue, and emerald lagoons surrounded by lush jungle-covered hills.

If you’re visiting Siargao, then make sure to add a day trip to Sohoton Cove to your bucket list. In this guide, I’ll try to convince you to do just that, while also detailing everything you need to know to make it happen!

Featured in: Siargao Island Travel Guide

Where is Sohoton Cove Located?

There are many island hopping trips on Siargao, but the trip to Sohoton Cove is probably the furthest.

That's because Sohoton National Park is located on nearby Bucas Grande Island, Surigao del Norte. In saying that, boats departing for Sohoton Cove from either General Luna or Dapa on Siargao will get you there in just over an hour.

Tip: If you're looking for a closer option to Siargao with beautiful lagoons, check out Sugba Lagoon.

How to Get to Sohoton Cove From Siargao in 2023

There are two options for getting to Sohoton Cove from Siargao. Of course, both will require a boat and driver.

Let me break them down for you.

Sohoton National Park Bucas Grande, Philippines

1. Sohoton Cove Full-Day Tour from General Luna

The most hassle-free and easiest way to get to Sohoton Cove is to simply book a full-day tour departing the tourist hub of General Luna.

The price is really affordable, and will likely end up cheaper than if you were to rent a motorbike, ride to Del Carmen and try to hire a private boat at the terminal.

This trip also includes a visit to the very popular Daku and Naked Islands. This is great if you were looking to check those out too! I've included photos below of these so you know what to expect.

Book in advance: Full-day Sohoton Island Hopping Trip

2. Semi-Independent Option

I kind of eluded to this option above. If you're a couple or traveling solo, then this option doesn't make much sense. However, if you are in a large group, you could save money by riding a motorbike to the town of Dapa. From here, you can book the ferry to get you to Socorro for 200 pesos.

Once at Socorro, you can pay a boat driver 1200-1500 pesos to take you around Sohoton Cove to visit the caves and other highlights.

Everything You Need to Know About the Sohoton Cove National Park Trip

With the logistics out of the way, let's dive into what to expect on a trip. I'll also include some must-visit spots that you'll want to check out when you get here.

Sohoton National Park

Sohoton Cove at Sohoton National Park has long been a well-kept secret. I made my first trip here in 2018 and was honestly blown away! The term Sohoton means narrow opening in Filipino (Visayan), which alludes to the array of labryrinth-esque lagoons and secret coves.

Sohoton National Park is also filled with limestone caves and unique rock formations.

Just check out this video that I captured with my drone. If you've got one, definitely bring it!

Sohoton Blue Lagoon (Titikan Lagoon)

There are many blue lagoons in Sohoton Cove Siargao but one of the most popular is the Titikan Lagoon. This is one of the most fluorescent-blue lagoons I've ever visited.

There's a dock here where you'll likely pull up in your Bangka (Filipino outrigger boat). Here, you can swim or rent a kayak or SUP to explore. I took the time to fly my drone here to get a better view of the amazing Sohoton Coves and lagoons! Below are some shots.

Exploring The Sohoton Caves

After visiting the blue lagoon, our driver took us to explore some caves at Sohoton National Park. We visited Hagukan Cave, Magkukuob Cave and the famous Crystal Cave. The first two were only a brief stop for us as we found it was very crowded with people. We still took the time to swim in the cove and cliff jumped off the small 5-metre rock face at Hagukan Cave.

Crystal Cave Sohoton Cove

One of the highlights for our trip to Sohoton Cove from Siargao was a stop by the Crystal Cave. Unlike Hagukan and Magkukuob, we had this cave all to ourselves. For this one, we needed to pay a guide who lives next to the cave 50 pesos for a guided tour. She explained to us the intricacies of this unique geological phenomenon and pointed out some awesome stalagmites and stalactites.

Our guide also showed us through her village and was very eager to show off her roosters. She also showed us a 1.5 metre reef shark that she had been keeping as a "pet" in a small fenced off cove.

Sohoton Resorts: Diving Board & Slide

Before the day was up, our boat driver took us to two different resorts that featured diving boards into deep, emerald lagoons.

The first was the Sohoton Gamay Resort. This one has an epic 5-metre diving board where you can practice your backflips. It's also got an awesome water slide! We spent a good 45 minutes here sending flips and enjoying this lagoon all to ourselves. We also took the short trail up over the hill to check out the lagoon behind it.

The second stop was at the popular Club Tara Island Resort. I was blown away by just how awesome this resort was. If I was going to spend the night in Sohoton Cove or anywhere in the National Park near Socorro, I'd pick this one. In true Bucas Grande fashion, there was also a diving board here where we jumped off a few more times.

There are plenty of things to do at the blue lagoon including:

We spent about 2 hours exploring the blue lagoon and burning through drone batteries after some of the best flights of my life!

The Lagoon House

The Lagoon House is a floating pontoon-style house with an attached diving board. It provides shelter and a stop for food and snacks. If you've selected the Sugba Lagoon tour, then you'll likely be offered a hearty lunch here. However, for those who want to use one of the tables, you'll have to "rent" one by paying the owner 50 pesos.

If you head to the top of the lagoon house, you can watch people jump off the diving board.

Detailed information about Siargao island hopping to Guyam, Daku, and Naked Island! Discover everything you need to know to enjoy an epic island hopping tour on Siargao.

While Siargao is well-known for epic surf spots, it’s also an adventure playground dotted with incredible tropical islands. One of the best ways to experience this incredible place is to jump on a Siargao island hopping tour from General Luna. In this guide, I’ll show you just how to do this without overpaying!

Island Hopping Siargao

About Island Hopping in Siargao

All island hopping tours in Siargao run on longtail outrigger motorboats called Banka’s.

The three main islands you’ll visit on a Siargao island hopping tour are: Daku Island, Naked Island, and Guyam Island. These tropical islands are dotted just off the coast of General Luna and are very quick to reach.

There are plenty of tour operators who will be very eager to sell you a tour. But, unfortunately some are hit and miss (more details why below).

The good news is that the best-priced and most reliable tour can be booked online. The price is the same as what you’ll be offered by vendors in General Luna (always cheaper than the first offer).

As a bonus, this trip also includes pick-up, drop-off, and a hearty island lunch!

Siargao Island Hopping Rates – the best package

As you might expect, tours on Siargao are very affordable. However, don’t make the mistake of overpaying!

Updated Siargao island hopping rates are around $20-$25 for a day-trip. However, the average price on the street usually starts at about $30-$35, which you’ll then have to haggle down.

The recommended trip (above) that I booked is $23 and includes:

  • Hotel pick-up/drop-off
  • Daku Island
  • Guyam Island
  • Naked Island
  • Snorkelling equipment rental
  • Hearty lunch
  • English-speaking guide

Pretty good value if you ask me!

Another thing you’ll want to look for are quality boats. Unfortunately, there are some boats running island hopping trips on Siargao that really shouldn’t be in the water! The last thing you want is an engine failure to ruin your trip.

Alternative: For those in a big group, you can barter to rent a private island hopping trip with a boat and driver for the day for roughly 1500 pesos. This doesn’t include lunch, a guide, or any equipment.

Update: You can now book an alternative trip that visits Daku Island, Naked Island and the mind-blowing Sohoton Cove for under $45.

Siargao Island Hopping Tour – What to Expect

With the logistics out of the way, let’s dive into what to expect on an epic Siargao island hopping adventure to Daku Island, Naked Island, and Guyam Island!

Stop 1: Guyam Island

The first stop for us was Guyam Island. You can walk around this tiny speck of an island in about 3 minutes! It’s almost a perfect circular shape, with a field of coconut palms in the centre and white-sand shores around its rim.

Guyum Island Siargao

On the interior of Guyam Island is a tiny, small hut.  Here, you can purchase a coconut for 50 pesos. The coconut palms provide perfect shade as the day starts to heat up!

We spent roughly an hour on Guyam, swimming in the crystal clear waters, snorkeling on the fringing reef and lounging on the beach.

Guyam Island is an incredible private oasis and easily my favorite on this Siargao island hopping tour!

Stop 2: Naked Island

The second stop on our Siargao island hopping tour is Naked Island. This is a sand cay island devoid of any plants. Around its rim is a fringing coral reef stretching for a few hundred metres before a sharp drop-off.

Naked Island is roughly 90 metres long and while there might not be much to see, its simplicity is what this kind of island is really about! We spent another hour on Naked Island swimming, snorkeling and simply relaxing on the sandy shores.

Naked Island is awesome for drone shots. So, if you have one, make sure to bring it along. If your Siargao island hopping tour visits Naked Island to wrap up the day, then you’re lucky as I’ve also seen some epic aerial sunset photos from here!

Stop 3: Daku Island

The final island we visited island hopping on Siargao was Daku Island. This is the largest island off General Luna and has the most going on. As you might expect from a Siargao island, there are plenty of palm trees and crystal-clear blue water.

Daku Island Siargao
Daku Island

We were offered lunch on Daku Island, which was a big spread of fresh fruits, fish, rice, and vegetable dishes. We all gathered around on the beach and ate under the shelter of a bamboo hut.

To wrap up our Siargao island hopping trip, we climbed a few coconut trees and harvested a handful. We then traded our haul with a machete-wielding local in exchange for opening one of ours.

I’m sure you’ll be absolutely blown away by Daku Island! While I did pick Guyam as my favorite, Daku was a close second!
