We have just found your blog while searching information to make this exactly same route but on March! We are really not very experienced in bike touring and we were expecting to do this route in 1 week. We might not make any detours, so only route 8, 79 y 1. That would be less than 500 km. Are the climbings too rough??? Should we take food for many days or are there small towns to go through every day? Thank youuu!!!!! Cheers!!!!! 🙂

Kyrgyzstan sounds like an epic cycling trip.

I did this in May, so it was a little cold. The trip took 6 days in total, around 100KM per day.

The winds weren’t too bad at all. In saying that, I’m actually in NZ now and the winds down south have been pretty brutal for the past few days. At the end of the day though, the roads are great and fairly wide.
