Bahubali Hills Udaipur is a rocky viewpoint overlooking Badi Lake and the Aravali Hills. Located just a short ride from Udaipur City in Rajasthan, India.
It’s true that the “Lake City” of Udaipur is better known for its lavish palaces, royal buildings, and extravagant weddings. However, if you’re visiting Udaipur and longing for an epic viewpoint or a break from the hustle and bustle, then I’d highly recommend making the trip to Bahubali Hills, or Badi Hills.
I first saw this viewpoint on Instagram and after asking around at the hostel, I quickly realized that even the Udaipur locals hadn’t heard of this viewpoint. So, I rented a motorbike and drove out to Badi Lakes in search of it. Here’s a quick guide based on my experience of visiting Bahubali Hills from Udaipur.
Location of Bahubali Hills from Udaipur
The Bahubali Hills viewpoint is located at Badi Lake, approximately 13 KM from Udaipur. Badi Lake is tucked behind the Aravalli Hills, which is a range overlooking Udaipur famous for the "Monsoon Palace".
The Bahubali Hills viewpoint is located on the northern tip of Badi Lake, accessible by road up to a dirt car park, where a short walking track begins.

How to get to the Bahubali Hills Viewpoint
As far as I could tell, there are no tours or public transport options to Badi Lake or Bahubali Mountain. This means that if you want to get out of the city to get a glimpse of the view, you'll need to either rent a motorbike or pay a taxi or rickshaw driver.
I chose to rent a motorbike, which my hostel arranged for 350 rupees for the day.
Since I was staying in the tourist/backpacker area of Brampole, I took the main road west (76A) towards the Aravali Hills, whereby the road merged onto "Devi Palace Road" and then "Badi-Gorela-Mulla Talai Road. This road is sealed the entire way, and rounds the steep, dry hills and edges Badi Lake all the way to the northern tip, where you'll find an unsealed road winding up a small hillside.
If you navigate to th pin above, you'll eventually reach a dirt car park with a small stall. The very short track to the Bahubali Hills viewpoint is just over the hill from the car park.

Badi Lake ViewPoint
After spending the past couple of months in Rajasthan exploring temples, palaces and exhilirating cities, checking out the Bahubali Hills viewpoint, which is more akin to my usual style of travel, was a welcoming and almost relieving feeling.
The view over the mirror waters of Badi Lake, framed by the jagged, Rajasthani desert landscape create an epic scene.
About Badi Lake
Badi Lake is a man-made, freshwater lake constructed between 1652-1680 by Maharana Raj Singh I near the small village of Badi on the outskirts of Udaipur.
The lake was originally built to compensate for a famine prior to the construction and was an essential source of water during a recent, 1973 drought.
Other than the Bahubali Hills viewpoint, there is also a "sunset spot" on the eastern banks of the lake, accessible by the road you take to the viewpoint.
We stopped here briefly for another view of the lake before heading back to Udaipur.
Where to Stay in Udaipur
You'll want to stay in or nearby the "Brampole" area of Udaipur for the best access to palaces, bridges, lakeside viewing areas, and pretty much everything else going on in Udaipur. Below I've listed the most-recommended and best-reviewed options.
- Best hostel vibe: Hostel Mantra - This hostel is in the perfect location and includes a rooftop area with views over the Udaipur lakes. This one is a really social hostel that is perfect for solo travelers. Dorms go for around $3 USD too so you really can't go wrong.
- Best budget suite for couples: Gypsy Child Lake Hostel - A hostel but also accommodates private rooms with a terrace for a budget price. This is one of the highest-rated places to stay for both dorms and privates in Udaipur. It's in a great location, includes free breakfast, and has clean, air-conditioned rooms.
- Best luxury accommodation: RAAS Devigarh - On the other side of the price spectrum is the 18th-century palace overlooking Udaipur; the RAAS Devigarh. If you've got $200 to spend per night and want to live like a royal, then this is probably the most unique place to spend a couple of nights in Udaipur.

right, udaipur has so many more places to be visited, in previous year i visited to the observatory of solar sciences, which is very amazing experience for me, also the mansoon palace. always love this blog.
